This was an such an incredible experience ! Yumiko was a really good teacher , spoke great English and was a very patient teacher. She also taught us about the history of Kanji & Katakana and you can tell she was very passionate about teaching. Definitely recommend , especially if you are looking for cultural activity in Tokyo.

To top it off, she even recommended a place where I could buy my first brush and rice paper, which was so thoughtful. I can't wait to visit Studio Kotonoha again on my next trip to Tokyo. I highly recommend this studio to anyone looking to learn calligraphy in a welcoming and inspiring environment!

I was able to show up without a reservation and get a lesson. The lady was very accommodating in English as best she could and was very patient with me and super encouraging. She also gave a decent discount for leaving a review on google or sharing an image on Instagram. I had a lot of fun!

    Great experience!
This is a great place to do Japanese culture while having fun.
The owner Yumiko-san is very friendly, relaxed and accepting even if it is your first time.
You will enjoy the Japanese spirituality without any elbow grease.
And it's in a great location, with Asakusa and Skytree just a short walk away!
